So we finally did it!
In August 2008, after nearly five years of fundraising, planning and preparation
our team finally left for Tanzania to realise a dream that had begun back in
2003 when a team of 12 volunteers from the UK were building houses in the
capital Dodoma with the charity organisation Habitat for Humanity.
“These kids don’t have a school, can we do something about it?” That was the question posed at one of our evening meetings after a day on the
building site.
We decided to finish the project at hand and reconvene for a meeting back in the
UK to look at the question again.
After some deliberation and consideration of all the implications and a few deep
breaths we came to a conclusion. Why not?
