Five members of the AZAR team returned in February 2009 for the offical handing-over of the school to the Dodoma Council.

Once again various kinds of entertainment were laid on for this great day. Gogo musicians, singers and dancers and school choir all in attendance.

Guest of honour was (Tanzania’s Boris Johnson) The Mayor of Dodoma who gave a speech thanking AZAR and all involved with the project. Then the ruling party Chairman added his thanks. Caroline responded on behalf of AZAR.

Other speeches followed interspersed with musical elements and then team memb er Mike Shellens said a few words of encouragement and handed over the symbolic wooden key we had had made, to the Mayor.

Once again the team were given presents, a Gogo spear and shield, and kangas for all team members. No ceremony goes by without the planting of trees and the Mayor and Caroline obliged.

Unfortunately Mike’s camera got stolen in Kenya and the pictures for this event were lost.
